Director, Federal Program (Southwest U.S. Location Preferred)
Reports To: Department Manager/CEO - Path to Ownership Track
Status: Full-time, Exempt

Core Responsibilities
- Lead, execute, and manage strategic planning, marketing, client/business development, capture planning in leading EPS Group’s Federal Program.
- Manage multiple project teams in all aspects of project management and planning to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Build and train project teams to expand their capabilities by establishing best practices, policies, tools, methodologies, quality assurance and control, tools, and templates.
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) internally (interdepartmental and intradepartmental) and externally (inclusive of clients, sub-consultants, agencies).
- Evaluate company practices and processes to provide input for continuous improvement.
- Be an ambassador for EPS at industry events and May require attending project team and client engagements after hours.
- Supports Assistant Director of Business Development in developing future business and building relationships with new and existing clients.
- Longer term, once the Federal Program has been launched and projects are successfully awarded, achieve a 30-50% Billable Utilization Rate.
- Conduct non-billable activities including company & team meetings, professional development, community involvement, innovation time, culture & engagement activities, learning, and training.
- Manage $1.8M+ in projects and up to 9+ staff members, including Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and staff.
Skills & Experience
- 10-20 years of previous leadership experience within a federal program market (Federal AEC market preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of federal government organizations, such as Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Homeland Security, National Park Service/Department of the Interior, Indian Health Services, Federal Aviation Administration, Veterans Administration, and other related federal contracting organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Planning, or a related field (PE License preferred).
- Established connections within federal government organizations.
- Established relationships with design build contractors, architects and/or other AEC contractors.
- Knowledge and understanding of joint ventures and SBA mentor protégé agreements.
- Strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements and experience establishing processes to ensure compliance with the FAR.
- Strategic thinker who can connect vision and strategy to tactical execution.
- Strong organizational development skills with confidence to develop others and delegate.
- Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills, including leading up, across, and down the organization with various team sizes internally and externally.
- Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to lead business growth through building Teams.
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
- Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective.
- Solid understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques while also demonstrating a growth mindset.
- Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Required to stand, walk, and sit.
- The position may require a visit to project sites occasionally.
- The position requires a normal range of hearing.
- The employee must be able to lift 40 occasionally.
- Requires prolonged sitting with 15% of the time spent bending and reaching.
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Noise levels are consistent with a standard office environment.
